CBSE Curriculam

OIS follows the CBSE curriculum. The teaching methodology and the focus on the professional growth of the teacher would be integrated with the CBSE curriculum through the analysis of concepts, customized resource kits and use of technology.

The teaching process is customized to suit the needs of the learners with an emphasis on thinking skills, life skills and knowledge related to real life. The curriculum is divided into three levels – preschool, elementary and secondary.

Preschool is the child’s first experience of schooling. It should be one of the most exploring and enjoyable experiences. Since a child is exposed to a different world away from home his pre school experiences should be one of those that sets an approach to life-time learning habit. It is important that the child feels secure here and enjoys the new experience he is encountered to. Play is the best way for a child to learn. So, we have classrooms that are enriched with colors, pictures and learning objects that will make the child and his parents feel it a ‘Child Kingdom’. The child will be fully explored to the ‘play way learning’ through exposure to block building, toy library, picture library etc. There is full opportunity for interaction and growth for each different child. ‘Role play learning’ is specially used to provide a growing experience.
There are separate areas for the child’s leisure and relaxation. The Activity Center and Child’s Park are technically modeled by Child Experts for this purpose. The teacher will be child friendly and the complete focus is directed on their progress.

Elementary Level – Grade I to VI
The child’s entry to class 1 gives him a different feeling. This phase is important as it a platform for his first step to junior schooling. All the learning he has gained in his formative stage is expanded here to make him understand different subjects and their basic concepts.
At this stage children will be prepared to explore their creativity and talent. They will be exposed to various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for outshining their hidden potentials. As they advance to higher classes they will be encouraged to move ahead from being dependent to being independent. They will begin to develop their individuality and personality. The child’s interest in specific subjects and activities will also be encouraged which helps him to choose his specialization in future. The curriculum includes English, Oriya, Hindi, Sanskrit, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences, Environment Science, Arts, Music etc. The following are the highlights:

The school follows the CBSE syllabus. The uniqueness of the school largely lies in this blended approach of offering Indian content using international methodologies. Regular field trips are organized to help children understand their learning process. 

Parent teacher meetings are held regularly in which the teachers describe how the students perform and behave in the class & parents provide their perspective.

The teaching methodology often moves away from books to include the world outside the campus.
